After the storm passed, we took back to the Route Verte cycle path once more, leaving Farnham and heading north-west towards Chambly. The damage caused by the storm characterised our entire day- and as they say, a picture can speak a thousand words.
Here’s a look at the hurdles and sights Irene left in our path…
In spite of the glorious weather and no trace of the storm!) that even allowed skydivers to jump (!) we weren’t allowed to forget the storm. Over 30 fallen trees along the path and a wide range of debris created significant hurdles. Some, we overcame- with the help of another touring couple and some good teamwork!- others were simply impassable and we were forced back to the drawing board to reconsider our options. Roads were closed, rivers had burst their banks.
As they say- quite a day!
